Killarney
The Christmas in Killarney festival is well and truly in full swing now and with Sunday being the 8th of December (The traditional beginning of the Christmas season in Ireland), we thought we’d give you a low-down on all the festive fun you can have in Killarney next week.
The weekend
Oh, where to start. Well tonight Bell X1 are playing in the INEC, with support from Ireland’s latest bright young things Walking on Cars. It all kicks off in there at 7.30pm. This weekend has apparently been christened the Monster Shopping Weekend so that means lots of shops around town will have some lovely products at discounted prices for you to get your grubby mits on. Elsewhere, The Elves’ Cottage will be open down Scott’s Lane for the very first time this year and Santa Claus will be making an appearance at the Killarney Outlet Centre. Also on Saturday there is the Christmas Treasure Hunt which is kicking off at the Laurel’s at 11.45am and which, as you may have guessed, a town-wide scavenger hunt aimed mainly at families.
The weekdays
The weekdays are, naturally, a quieter affair though there is plenty to fill your plate. Killarney Town Library is hosting a photography exhibition by MacMonagle Photography. That starts Monday. Then on Wednesday, the INEC will be hosting a band of Christmas Crooners, a cast of West-End singers who’ll be giving the ol’ Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole standards a whirl. Tickets are priced at 22euro. Then, on Thursday evening, Courtney’s Bar on Plunkett Street of Town are hosting the curiously titled 12 Beers of Christmas. Pay 12 quid and you get to sample 12 different beers. Simples.
