The Killarney Big Red Bus
London, Paris, Barcelona, Killarney – what connects all these great places? Well one of the things that does is that you can tour all of them on red open top buses. Yes, just in time for summer 2014, Killarney has joined the big boys in launching their very own hop-on, hop-off sightseeing tour bus. Killarney is perfect for such an endeavour and to be honest it’s a wonder someone hasn’t thought of this sooner. The bus travels around Killarney and the surrounding area taking in some of its most famous landmarks along the way.
The bus leaves the East Avenue Road (The one next to the Outlet Centre where all the buses are parked and where the cinema is) every morning at 10am. There are four stops along the way and they are Aghadoe, Ross Castle, Muckross House and Torc Waterfall. Now, as is the nature of hop-on, hop off buses, you can alight at any of these points and return to the bus later. The bus returns to each point every two and a half hours so you’ll never be stranded for long
. This tour is perfect for any new visitors to Killarney to get to know the town or people who would only be here on a weekend and don’t have the time to truly explore the area independently. You’ll be able to see three of Killarney’s most famous attractions and visit, for my money, one of Killarney and indeed Ireland’s most stunning views, Aghadoe. There is also guided commentary, free maps and info sheets on each landmark in the bus. What more could you want?
It’s barely been around a month but already the Big Red Bus has received rave reviews. To book your ticket callĀ 087 765 4555 or drop into their office in the Market Cross in the centre of town. Oh, and once you purchase a ticket it is valid for two days. For any more information you may need check out their facebook page here. You’ll have a busload of fun!
