September Events in Kerry

Gap of Dunloe Summer may be officially over for another year, but there is still a holiday atmosphere in Killarney in September. Stay at Killarney’s Holiday Village and enjoy everything from food festivals to horse racing and adventure racing. You can take in a concert, do some shopping, and enjoy the great weather we often have here at this time of year. There really is something for everyone.

Here are just a few ideas to get you planning your trip to Killarney in September:

Dingle Food Festival

Situated at the edge of the Dingle Peninsula, Dingle is the ideal place to celebrate the wonderful food from farm and sea that Kerry produces. Enjoy food workshops, cookery demonstration, art trails, Blás na hÉireann Food Awards, and some whiskey and wine tasting to whet the appetite. There’s a full programme of events for children, so families of all ages are catered for at the Dingle Food Festival.

Killarney Adventure Race

To really see Killarney in all its glory, especially with its magnificent display of autumn foliage, you really have to get out in the open air. That makes the Killarney Adventure Race (just a day late for September!) the perfect choice for anyone with a good level of fitness. Even if you are not super fit, you can try the shorter distance (you have a choice of 70km, 60km, and 27km) and enjoy cycling and hiking in the great outdoors around the Lakes of Killarney, Torc Waterfall, and Muckross House for the day.

Date: October 1st

TriKillarney Triathlon

If you get bored doing the one activity all the time, you’ll love the TriKillarney Olympic distance triathlon on September 17th. Experience the Lakes of Killarney with a 1.5km swim in the Lower Lake, then hop on your bike for a 40km cycle, and finish with a 10km through the grounds of Killarney National Park. Excited? See what you’re made of and sign up for it here.

Date: September 17th
