Killarney’s Holiday Village for The Gathering 2017

The Gathering Traditional Music Festival has developed into one of the most highly regarded traditional events in Ireland. It is not difficult to see why: The five-day festival features top-quality talent performing in concerts, ceilís, instrument masterclasses, set dance and sean-nós workshops, a comprehensive education programme, and many free music events.

Whether you are a dedicated trad fan or somebody who enjoys good music and a bit of craic, you will find much to enjoy at The Gathering February 22-26, 2017, when you stay at Killarney’s Holiday Village.

The Gathering Céilis

There are céilis every day to wear you out in the best possible way. Wednesday features Uí Bhriain, Neily O’Connor performs on Thursday, and James Kelliher plays with Liam Healy on Friday afternoon. You can get tickets for alll of these céilis at the door. Book online at the INEC box office for the weekend céilis: Striolán Céilí Band play on Friday, it’s Five Counties on Saturday, and Johnny Reidy performs for the final céili on Sunday evening.

The Gathering Concerts

Thursday 23rd February

Enjoy Aidan Coffey, Geraldine O’Callaghan, Mick Daly, John Brosnan, Mike Brosnan, Geraldine Breen, and Mary Conroy in concert in the Gleneagle Ballroom.

Tickets are €10 on the door for the concert only or €15 for the concert & céili with Neily O’Connor

Friday 24th February

Look forward to the Casey Sisters ( Nollaig Casey, Máire & Mairead Nic Chathasaigh), Piper’s Union, Dermot Byrne, Steve Cooney and Bríd Harper in the  Gleneagle Ballroom. Tickets: are €25 from the INEC box office.

Saturday 25th February

There is a free afternoon concert with Connie O’Connell, Áine O’Connell, Francis O’Connor, and Eileen De Paor at the INEC Backstage Bar. (12:30pm to 2pm)

There’s another great afternoon concert on Saturday, this time with Boruma Trio, Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh, Gerry O’Beirne, and Dónal O’Connor at the INEC Acoustic Club (2pm). Tickets €15 on the door.

If you have any energy left, keep it for Dervish & Full Set at the Gleneagle Ballroom that evening.

Sunday 26th February

This afternoon’s concert is with Ciarán O’Maonaigh, Caitlín Nic Gabhann, Paddy Jones, Tim O’Shea, Jackie Daly, Matt Cranitch, Paul DeGrae, and Conal O’Grada in the Gleneagle Ballroom at 1.45pm. Tickets €15 on the door

Wrap things up with the Scattering Concert that evening at the INEC Acoustic Club, featuring The John Carty Festival Band, including James Carty, Dermot Byrne, Jim Higgins, Shane McGowan, and Goitse. Tickets €20 online at www.inec.ie
