The link between rabbits and Easter is a confusing one. There are no biblical parallels and it is questionable whether rabbits even live in the Holy Land. Nevertheless, for the past century at least the two have been inextricably linked and this Good Friday, Killarney will be embracing Easter’s favourite furry friends with its very own bunnypark.
It’s taking place in the Deerpark Shopping Park (Next to the big Tesco) this Good Friday between 11 and 3. While this is obviously very much an event designed for children, there’ll be plenty to keep the adults placated as well.
Kids will get the chance to meet the Easter bunny himself in a very Santa-Claus-In-A-Shopping-Centre-in-December kind of way and will receive a chocolate gift (If they’ve been good, according to the press release). There’ll also be a mad hatter tea party, a lady dressed as Alice in Wonderland storytelling and to top it all off, actual real life bunnies to see, touch, rub, poke, wrestle, throw or whatever other use your kids can find for them.
The adults will be glad to hear there’ll be free tea and coffee, courtesy of Costa, to get them through the day and there’ll also be spot prizes on offer for those who present their Costa receipts to the Easter Bunny. Radio Kerry will be broadcasting the event live between 11-1.
I don’t know about you but I am sold. Easter bunnies, real bunnies, mad hatters – it sounds delightful. Bring the kids down, pray the weather is OK and fill yourself with free tea and chocolates while the kids meet the Easter bunny. Is there any better way to spend Good Friday?
