Killarney BikeFest
Rev up those engines, crank up the noise and put the pedal to the metal because the Ireland Bike Fest, Ireland’s premier international motorcycle festival, is coming back to Killarney this month, running from May 30th to June 2nd. The weekend long festival is now an annual fixture on Killarney’s summer calendar and sees hundreds of motorbike enthusiasts converge on Killarney for a weekend of fun, food and Harleys.
Its popularity has skyrocketed in recent years and has become a favourite among the locals. The motorcyclists bring a unique sort of colour and energy to the town and the festival and the entertainment appeal to all ages. The epicentre of the festival is, as always, the Bike Village located in the car park of the Gleneagle Hotel. There’ll be loads going on here over the weekend including motorcycle displays, a family fun centre, food stands and much, much more.
There will also be a whole host of bands and singers performing at the Outdoor Stage, Main Stage and in the Harley Bar which are all situated in the village. Performers include exciting Dublin indie band Raglans, former Voice of Ireland winner Pat Byrne and AC/DC tribute band Hell’s Bells who are Bike Fest veterans. You can find a full list of performers and their show times right here. Oh, and as if that hadn’t whet your musical palette enough, all performances are absolutely free. Music to your ears and your wallet.
In keeping with the festival’s tradition, Sunday morning will see the streets and roads of Killarney filled with Harleys, Ducatis and Hondas for the Bike Parade. The bikes will leave the Bike Village at 11am and make their way through the town thereafter. This year the Bikers are riding in aid of Muscular Dystrophy Ireland and you can to your part too by purchasing a ticket for the big raffle on Sunday evening. The prize for the raffle? Oh, no big deal just a Harley Davidson motorcycle! Tickets are €5 each of €20 for a 5 and you can purchase them already on the muscular dystrophy wesbsite right here .
With all this in mind you’d be mad to miss what is always a cracking festival. Fingers and toes crossed that Mr. Sun makes an appearance as well so that it can be the perfect curtain-raiser for another great summer in Killarney.
