June Bank Holiday Weekend: Kerry Vs Waterford

After dispatching Tipperary with ease last Sunday, Kerry will be taking on Waterford in Fitzgerald Park for a place in the Munster Senior Football Championship Final this Saturday evening. Now the game last week was a bit of a damp squib with Tipperary not putting up much of a fight and Waterford are traditionally even weaker but a championship match in Killarney with Kerry involved is always an event to savour.

You see, if you really want to get a feel for Killarney, if you really want to know what makes Killarney tick and what are the passions of the local people then a GAA match is one of your best bets. Fitzgerald Stadium is one the of the most beautiful pitches in the country and even when the match is poor there’s always the stunning scenery to enjoy.

Kerry will be coming into the match as red-hot favourites and may even field an experimental side such is the traditional weakness of Waterford so if you want to see some of Kerry’s up and coming talent then this could be the perfect opportunity.

And, since Fitzgerald Stadium is situated on the edge of town you’ll be able to stroll into Killarney afterwards for a few evening drinks to celebrate the bank holiday.

Tickets are €15 for the terrace (Standing) or €20 for the stand (Seated – Doesn’t make much sense, I know). The game kicks off at 7pm. You’ll be able to purchase tickets at the gate and if you’re an OAP or a student you’ll receive a €5 discount.

Up the Kingdom!
