The Gathering Festival Killarney waltzes into town

The Gathering Festival Killarney

Not to be confused with 2013’s year-long, nationwide festival, The Gathering Festival Killarney is a traditional Irish culture and music festival that has been held annually in the INEC, Killarney since 2000. A vast array of talented and renowned musicians have performed at the festival in years gone by including Altan, Dervish and Teada. This year’s festival, which is being held between the 19th and 21st of February promises to be even more exciting.

While there’ll be plenty of concerts to whet your musical appetites there’ll also be céilís every evening for the duration of the festival, if you fancy a jig or a reel and, for any budding traditional musicians, there’s a variety of workshops and masterclasses in singing, dancing and instruments to help you hone your skill.

Teada are returning this year and they’ll be performing on Saturday night alongside Seamus Begley. Also on the festival’s gig roster are Murty Ryan & Mary Bergin, Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill and loads more.
