Christmas in Killarney
The Christmas in Killarney festival kicked off on Friday with the annual and always popular Children’s Parade and turning on of the lights. The whole town is really getting in a festive mood with December fast approaching; you may have noticed already the candy cane bollards lining some of the streets and the jaunting carts which have been converted into sleigh rides. The programme for this year is bigger and better than ever.
Conceived in 2005, Christmas in Killarney is an annual festival every yuletide by a few hardworking volunteers and local businesses. For the whole month of December there’ll be Christmas food markets, jaunting car sleigh rides, Christmas storytelling, wine-tasting and Christmas parties on around the town. That’s just a taster thought because there’ll also be plenty of quality entertainment in the INEC including performances from Bell X1, The Waterboys, Original Rudeboys and comedian Jimmy Carr.
Two tips for any prospective visitors into Killarney would be the Welcome Home Disco on the 23rd December which would be a great opportunity to mingle with the locals and the New Years Eve Street Bash which is totally free and will be closing the festival.
